Sunday Church School
Classes are offered for all ages each Sunday morning at 9:15 AM. Our morning begins with Gathering Time in the Social Hall. This time is an important way to bring our people together to share in learning about seasons of the church year, the focus of the day’s liturgy, singing hymns, learning to find texts in the Bible, and sharing announcements of coming events.
Curriculum is centered on the same lessons we hear and think about during the Sunday morning liturgy. Our children are encouraged to enter into the Bible stories and to grow in their own faith. The goals of this curriculum are to encourage the deepening of connections to the rhythms of the church year, the riches of Sunday worship, to each other, and most importantly, to God.
Seventh and Eighth Grade students study the Bible on a more advanced level as part of their catechetical instruction.
Opportunities for Adult Education are found in the Adult Forum lead by Pastor Herbener.
Throughout the year, during the Sunday Church School hour Holy Trinity highlights the changing seasons of the church year helping our children and adults embrace the richness of remembering God’s grace as the church marks time. These events all have different formats and include: Rally Day to mark the beginning of the church school year, a Christmas Celebration, Epiphany Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Faire, and Pentecost event.
Youth Ministry
The goal of youth ministry is to encourage and provide opportunities for youth to grow in their relationship with God and each other and to explore ways to live out their faith. The youth at Holy Trinity are incredible gifts from God. Their participation in the life of this parish is remarkable and they enrich our life together in so many ways. On any given Sunday the youth of Holy Trinity are busy singing and playing musical instruments to lead liturgy, ushering, running the sound system, assisting in the Nursery, assisting with the Children’s choir or Youth Bell choir, serving as Communion Assistants and Acolytes, and attending classes. Their service and active participation are examples for all of us.
Activities for fun and service are also planned each month. These include such things as trips to the beach, service days at Camp Kirchenwald, caroling at Christmas, game nights and ping pong tournaments. Come join the gang for fellowship and fun. For more information, call the church office at 733-4134 or check the calendar for a list of activities and dates.
Trini Mini After School Program
Trini Min started in 2009 with an idea that Holy Trinity could fill a need in the lives of a growing number of elementary age children after school. Help with homework, an opportunity for playing with other children, and an afternoon snack! We have grown from one child on that first day, to an average of 8 children a day. Volunteers include retired classroom teachers and administrators, as well as physical education teachers and others who believe in putting children first.
During the school year Trini Mini meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 and during the summer we meet on Tuesday mornings from 10-12. For more information call the church office at 733-4134. We look forward to seeing you there.
Mazon
The word “Mazon” is a Hebrew word meaning “to feed”. Mazon is an enrichment opportunity for children in Preschool through Sixth Grade. Three sessions of Mazon are held each week, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and on Tuesday mornings. The Godly Play curriculum is used for these sessions. The goal of Godly Play is to teach the art of using the language of the Christian tradition to encounter God and find direction in life through experiencing sacred space, sharing sacred story, wondering together, and choosing creative work to discover our own role in the endless story of God and His people. Holy Trinity’s choir program for children is an important part of Mazon. Mazon is not a repetition of Sunday Church School. Both programs work together to provide children with a well-rounded background of Bible stories and understanding of the worship life of the church.
Vacation Bible School
For five nights in July, Holy Trinity is taken over by a new bible adventure as we play host to almost 100 children who learn about Christ’s role in their lives through singing, role playing, games, crafts and more. Come join us and experience the privilege of having a positive impact on a child’s life. For more information call the church office at 717-733-4134.
Catechetics
The catechetical program at Holy Trinity provides opportunity for youth to prepare to affirm their Baptism. Most commonly this program involves Eighth and Ninth Grade students; however, older students may certainly participate if they wish. Instruction in Biblical study occurs during the Sunday Church School hour under the leadership of the Director of Christian Education. Pastor Herbener teaches extra sessions periodically throughout the year. Upon completion of the course of study, students are confirmed at the Easter Vigil.
